Prisoner Selfie How Do Inmates Charge Their Cellphones In Federal Prison?

As a result of being asked via email and other places a few times, I figured I would add this answer to the blog. The Q&A  section exists to answer some of the basic questions that are relatively common when discussing federal prisons, how they work, and what the truth is about them.

Typically, the same way you do on the street. With a charger. Being caught with one is a serious infraction (in the same category as murdering another inmate). You can expect in most facilities that you will go to SHU for some time and have your security points go up. I have seen some crazy stuff about this, like guys getting caught on the phone in their cell. It’s a bad hit.
